Askifou is located between Vrisses and Sfakia in a plateau.

The old mountain village offers nice mountain walking tours. Meanwhile there are some rooms to rent and taverns of course. Daily there are driving many buses with tourists through, which were going through the Samaria gorge.

From here begins the nicest part of the road to Sfakia.
