Meanwhile there is a new road to the village of Kalikratis.
The village, located in the mountain above Frangokastello, has a nice gorge
from the coast up to here.
Most of the locals were living here only in summer, because
it was difficult to get fodder for the animals in winter. The habitants went
down to their villages close the coastline. Now with heating systems and
electricity some people are living here in winter too.
The village was nearly destroyed by
the German army during the WW-II.
The area is very nice for
walks. Because of the location there was less tourism
until now. Some taverns are offering good meals
for good prices.
