The palace was founded about 1950 B.Chr. There is also a gorge to go down there. It's also called "Death valley", because there were found some Minoan graves. The gorge is about 8 km.

Down there you can enjoy the sandy beach and of course there are some taverns. Organized bus tours are going to Kato Zakros and the Minoan palace.
